Sailing spirits fron the end of the word
Un día me encontré con el libro que cuenta la historia de una indígena yagana, Rosa Yagán – Lakutaia Le Kipa y con ella, un mundo de leyendas, mares y extinción.
De ese encuentro nacieron criaturas textiles, espíritus navegantes de un pueblo silenciado.
Cada pieza lleva un nombre, una nota de ese lenguaje que canta al fin del mundo.
A veces vuelvo a ellos: transformo fibras, tejo nuevos cuerpos, nace otro espíritu — Kashpij.
Hoy, los Yaganes aún navegan los océanos de la madre tierra.
One day, I came across the book
that tells the story of a Yaghan woman,
Rosa Yagán – Lakutaia Le Kipa,
and with her, a world of legends, seas, and extinction.
From that encounter, textile creatures were born —
navigating spirits of a silenced people.
Each piece bears a name,
a note from that language that sings at the end of the world.
At times, I return to them: I transform fibers,
weave new bodies, and a new spirit is born — Kashpij.
Today, the Yaghan still sail
through the oceans of Mother Earth.

I was invited by Kevin Murray from Garland Magazine to write an article about this series, which was developed between 2017 and 2020, inspired by the Yagán culture and the profound time of the end of the world.
